On August 15, our founder and CEO, Kayla Brown, returned to her alma mater, Western Carolina University, for a full-circle moment that reminded all of us what fearless authenticity really looks like.
Kayla was invited to speak at the Chancellor’s Ambassadors Retreat, a leadership program she once proudly represented as a student. Back then, she was a student-athlete juggling classes, soccer, and service. Today, she’s the CEO of My Roar Speech Therapy, a growing practice rooted in purpose, passion, and people-first leadership.
Being asked to return as an alumna speaker was an incredible honor—and one Kayla didn’t take lightly. In a room filled with student leaders, she shared her story of navigating life after graduation, starting her own company, and learning how to lead with vision, vulnerability, and values.
Her message centered around the power of showing up, staying true to your voice, and building a career that reflects who you are—not just what you do. She also offered encouragement and advice to students about what it looks like to lead well, grow through challenges, and trust the journey—even when it doesn’t go according to plan.
The energy in the room was electric, and the conversations that followed were rich, thoughtful, and empowering. It wasn’t just a speech—it was a reminder that leadership comes in many forms, and that success can be built with heart.
We’re incredibly proud of Kayla for stepping back into a space that helped shape her—and using her story to pour into the next generation. It’s not just about accomplishments or titles. It’s about impact, legacy, and lifting others as you climb.
Behind every roar is a story worth telling.
